Media Buy Guidelines

We have been working with some partners to put together media packages in and around the show and wanted to make sure everyone had the most up-to-date information as we jump into the first month of it’s 12 month run.  The revised breakdown includes media specific components in and around our block on The CW as well as some other questions that have come up around use of the SOS marks wherever you might be buying media.

Overall

Our goal as our partner is to connect you as many places as you want to be and to allow you to utilize the license you have to use the show IP and assets as an SOS partner . 

SOS License for Partners

As part of our partnerships, we provide a gratis license to use the SOS name, logos, video clips, stills and other assets. This is a value add that doesn’t come along with most TV partnerships. It allows you to utilize SOS to connect deeper with the storytelling/mission of SOS and to capture the audience’s affinity with the show as a point of differentiation in the market place. 

This can be utilized for: 

  • The CW / One Magnificent Morning
  • Television
  • Print
  • Digital
  • Social
  • Out of Home
  • Etc.

You can:

  • Run an existing spot / ad
  • Run an existing spot / ad with SOS customization
  • Run a new custom SOS Spot / ad 
  • Run a new custom spot / ad that includes multiple partners to create pricing efficiencies
  • Etc.

Customization can include use of: 

  • SOS Name, Logos, Marks
  • SOS Stills
  • SOS Video Clips
  • SOS Stories
  • SOS Talent Name and Likeness 
  • Shooting new content with show Host, shelters or families
  • Etc.

NOTE: For SOS customization the SOS team can budget and produce that for you or we can provide raw assets for you to create. If we produce our goal is to produce anything as cheaper as possible to facilitate as much connectivity with SOS as desired. If you produce as a reminder any use of SOS requires approval. 

One Magnificent Morning / Educational and Informational Regulations

E/I can be difficult to navigate and our team of experts along with the network have been working to create deeper connectivity and media package options for our partners. 

  • There are E/I restrictions for show partners that we will need to help you navigate through to make any media buy successful and the most impactful based on your end goals.
  • In an effort to connect sponsors strategically in and around the show given E/I guardrails, we have been working with the CW to create and build bespoke media packages for the SOS Partners. 
  • Given E/I and the uniqueness of this specific E/I block, please direct media inquiries through SOS/Populus and avoid outreach to the network ad sales team to avoid confusion and E/I issues that could arise. 
  • Noting there are parameters for show partners, we will work quickly and strategically work with you to get any potentially media package confirmed and running based on your desired timelines. 

E/I Parameters for media component of sponsorships (subject to network approval): 

  1. SOS In Show Partners can buy media during the OMM block. 
  2. SOS In Show Partners can’t buy media in the commercial pods in the episodes they are featured or the commercial pod directly before or after their episode(s). 
  3. As part of your show deal, partners have been given the gratis license to use SOS assets (logo, video, photo.  If desired, we have confirmed these assets can be used to custom any media. This is not a requirement, but since you can’t run media in your episodes we want to make sure we offered you the ability to stay connected to the show if you feel that could be more impactful in hooking the audience who will know the show. 
  4. SOS assets can’t run in the SOS in show commercial pods or the commercial pod directly before or after SOS. 
  5. We have the capabilities and approval to customize existing spots or to create bespoke commercials if desired. 
  6. We can create or run PSAs type media with show partners. These PSA message doesn’t have to be tied to a 501c3, but can be tied to a “more you know” type of campaign. In show partner’s charity that include the partner’s name cannot run during SOS but can run in the OMM block leading up to or after each SOS episode airs. 
  7. We can create custom spots that combines show partners’ resources to create even better pricing if desired. 
  8. Note this does not cover all things E/I. Final packages and media creative will be routed through our E/I legal team, SOS/Litton and the CW for final confirmation based on final creative and media flight.
